After consultation with ACPA leadership and Risk Management at San Francisco State University, we have decided to cancel CCPA’s 50th Anniversary Institute that was scheduled to take place this Saturday, March 7, 2020 at San Francisco State University. We wanted to make our membership aware in the case folks were still planning to register or walk in to the event.

We are making the decision to cancel this event due to the State of Emergency declared by Governor Gavin Newsom in response to the increase in COVID-19 diagnoses in California. Additionally, several institutions and corporate entities in the Bay area are now suspending public gatherings due to health and safety concerns. We do want to be clear that this event cancellation is simply precautionary; no one affiliated with San Francisco State University or with any of the institutions represented at the institute have been diagnosed with the coronavirus (COVID-19).

We deeply value opportunities to convene and connect and are disappointed that we won’t be able to host the institute this weekend. We want to acknowledge and voice appreciation for the presenters and SSAOs who submitted outstanding presentation proposals and prepared to facilitate great learning opportunities for our institute registrants.

We will monitor public health concerns closely and keep you all informed of further opportunities for networking, state-wide leadership, and professional development. To stay informed about day-to-day happenings in California higher education, we invite you to like the CCPA Facebook page and join the CCPA Facebook group for California job postings and colleague dialogue.

The California College Personnel Association was chartered on March 17th, 1970 as a chapter of the American College Personnel Association (ACPA). This year we are leveraging our annual institute to celebrate our 50th Anniversary in service to professionals in the state of California.

Our chapter has served higher education administrators by engaging professionals in important conversations about the landscape of higher education, focusing on developing ourselves as practitioners in order to best serve our students and their ever-changing needs. Our chapter includes over 600 scholars and practitioners state-wide, and is connected to an international organization serving over 6000 members world-wide. We’re excited to reach this celebratory point of fifty years, and we would be elated if you could join us!
