University of California, San Diego
President-Elect (Elected, 3-year term)
Biography
Anthony Jakubisin (Yaw-kuh-bish-in) is a higher education leader serving as Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Director of Residence Life at the University of California, San Diego, Sixth College. His work focuses on advancing equitable student experiences at scale within complex public university systems. He began his career in the biological sciences, where he developed a strong foundation in data analysis and evidence-based thinking. He transitioned into student affairs to work more directly with students and to address how institutions shape student behavior, learning, and community. Early roles at The Ohio State University and UC Santa Barbara grounded his approach in student development, accountability, and large-scale systems work. At UC San Diego, Anthony leads a large residential program supporting thousands of students and a broad student staff. His leadership centers on building systems that are clear, fair, and usable, with a focus on student learning, community responsibility, and access. He has led campus efforts to redesign policies, align institutional practices with legal standards, and implement data-informed frameworks that improve consistency and transparency in student-facing processes.
Anthony is known for his collaborative leadership style, working across divisions to address complex challenges. He is also advancing the use of technology, including artificial intelligence, to support decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and expand institutional capacity. A frequent presenter and contributor to the field, his work reflects a commitment to student advocacy, organizational change, and the evolution of student affairs in public higher education.
Anthony Jakubisin is seeking the President-Elect role with CCPA to support the field during a time of real strain on staff, resources, and student support systems. His interest comes from over two decades in student affairs and a clear view of the gap between what campuses expect and what staff are resourced to do. His goals are direct: First, to support clear and transparent Association operations so members understand how decisions are made and how to get involved. Second, to strengthen professional development that is practical and immediately useful, focused on issues people are dealing with now, including staffing shortages, crisis response, conduct processes, and the use of new technologies. Third, to improve engagement across the membership by making sure CCPA remains relevant to both new professionals and experienced leaders working in different types of institutions. Anthony’s vision for the role is grounded in making CCPA more usable and connected to day-to-day work. He wants the Association to serve as a place where professionals can access tools, share approaches, and learn from one another without unnecessary barriers. He brings a collaborative approach and experience working across campus partners to move work forward. As President-Elect, he would focus on supporting the current President, maintaining continuity in leadership, and preparing to step into the role with a clear understanding of what members need now.
