Running For President-Elect
Chris Trudell
It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my nomination for the President-elect of CCPA. I respect the importance of solution-oriented problem solving, cultivating networks, and promoting meaningful relationships to advance the values of education for all people. I am confident that my knowledge, skills and previous experience in higher education associations, advising and counseling, new student services, and higher education consulting will continue the growth of CCPA. I believe CCPA is a community that values social justice, innovation, and professional development for the greater good of student success. I’m eager to advance CCPA facing the unique challenges and opportunities the profession faces in the years to come. Thank you for your consideration!
Duane Rohrbacher
After a year as the Director of Professional Development that resulted in the biggest and best CCPA Institute yet, I am ready to take my ideas and vision to the next level. As President-Elect, I will work closely with the President and Past President to ensure that CCPA is represented locally and nationally. I will attempt to unite the entire state, focusing on California’s diverse and unique community. The next step can only be better.
Running For Director of Communications
Rassheeda Watts
My vision is to ensure that all members receive open, timely and transparent information to help them grow and achieve their goals as higher education professionals. I would like to hear from members as to how they think they could be better served and I will strive to meet those needs. My bachelor’s is in the field of communications and I also currently serve a communication role in our union’s bargaining unit. I would love the opportunity to volunteer my skills to help drive CCPA goals and help strengthen our membership.
Running for Director of Professional Development
Julia Stanton
In terms of professional development, my broad vision for CCPA is that it becomes an organization where crucial, grassroots conversations occur in order to creatively problem-solve the complex issues that institutions of higher education will face. I love working in California because institutions here have the opportunity to grapple with problems that institutions in other states won’t face for another 5-10 years, and often the programs and solutions developed at California institutions set precedents for what will happen in higher education in the rest of the country. I believe that those of us working in this state can influence policy and problem solving in measurable ways. This starts with dialogue that is meaningful, multi-dimensional, and informed by research. In general, there is a disconnect between research about practices and programs in higher education and what actually happens on a day-to-day basis. I’d like to develop a dialogue program for CCPA, where members have the opportunity to discuss a difficult issue in higher education, like the rising cost of education or retention rates, and build ideas about how to influence policies and practices in our state. I’d like to loop in some faculty or research specialists in California to share about the research they’re doing and how they hope it will translate into practice. Additionally, I’d like to support the vision of the current president-elect to revive the Careers in Student Affairs conference for undergraduate students; I attended a few years ago and loved the inspiration this conference gave so many students looking for their niche.
