Broido pandaThe keynote speaker for the Institute is Dr. Ellen M. Broido. Dr. Broido is an associate professor of higher education and student affairs at Bowling Green State University. She received an A.B. from Columbia College of Columbia University, a M.S.Ed. from Indiana University, and an Ed.D. from the Pennsylvania State University. Before Bowling Green State University, she had a joint appointment in student affairs and as a faculty member in Portland State’s University Studies program. Prior to earning her doctorate, she worked in residence life at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Her writing focuses on social justice and internationalization issues on college campuses. Her publications include the books Disability in higher education: A social justice approach (in press, co-authored with Nancy Evans, Kirsten Brown, and Autumn Watts) and Developing social justice allies (2005, with Robert Reason, Nancy Evans, and Tracy Davis). She has served on the governing board of ACPA and as the editor of ACPA’s Books and Media board.
